Over at Scrapbook Place, they're having a Music Inspired Challenge. My project was to create a CD cover for all the special music that I've loved over the years, from my very first favorite song at age 4, to my current favorites. I burned all of those songs onto 4 CDs and listen to them frequently. I call my music "Songs That Haunt the Soul." I also made a booklet with all the titles, lyrics, and meanings beind the songs. Although I created the CDs for myself, I created the CD case and booklet for my 10 year old daughter, since she's always asking me why I like the songs and what they mean to me. So this project was actually inspired by and for my daughter.
CD COVER
I chose a lightly patterned background paper from an old 12x12 pad for the CD cover and stamped it with Impression Obsession's Cover-a-Card Music stamp. Then I sprayed it with 5 colors of Glimmer Mist to give it some new life. Stamping first then spraying with Glimmer mist also gives the stamped backround a more muted effect as it slightly washes out the image; it's a great "ageing" technique. I added decorative natural feathers from Michael's and pieces from 2 different packs of Recollections pearls and rhinestones. I die cut the treble clef and music notes at my local scrap store, ran them upsidedown through my Xyron machine and used Glitter Ritz Micro Fine Glitters on the tops.
CD INTERIOR
I searched local & online stores high & low with no luck to find blank cardboard CD covers I could alter. So I created the CD cover from scratch using dimensions from another altered CD cover that I had.
CD TITLE BOOKLET
I used the same stamping and Glimmer Mist technique on the booklet cover, then die cut some Sizzix Broadway Melody letters for the title.
I hope you like my music inspired creation!
Many Happy Scrappenings,
Anna
